Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the few movies that I can watch over and over and laugh every single time. (Or cry when Cameron freaks. 'Cause yeah.) So I bought the DVD and watched the special features...only to learn that a lot of what made it onscreen was improvised by the actors. *hearts*

On a not-so-unrelated note, one of the things about the HPverse that's always bothered me was how everyone viewed the Potter's as saints. Granted, everyone loves a martyr, but still - it got annoying after awhile. Nobody's that perfect, which is one of the reason's Snape's so pissed at the world. But I finally figured it out.

The keywords on this one read: "james potter can get away with anything / and snape would make out with charlie sheen while remus kills his dad's car". I obviously need therapy of some kind.

[Actually, more often than not I see James painted as being evil rather than saintly. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle, as it was with young Ferris.]

Yup.

And James has always struck me as being a genuinely good guy, just...a bit of a self-centered asshole. An asshole you wanna be friends with and smells vaguely like roses and gunpowder, but still - asshole.

The interesting thing with Ferris is that the whole day was planned with Cameron in mind, and proving to him that life can be fun. Of course, Ferris had ulterior motives, but the core of it was for Cameron. He's just one of those people who is given everything he could ever want, effortlessly. And I can totally buy James being one of those people.

Well yeah, that's why Cameron = Remus so well, cause he is the core of the Marauders. I mean, yeah, the whole sneaking around Hogsmeade and becomming illegal animagi might have been a totally added bonus for James, but at the heart of the matter was Remus and their friendship. :D

misty, i was re-watching real genius tonight and it occurred to me that the world really needs a potter/malfoy icon that reads "Do you mind if I name my first child after you? "Dipshit Knight" has a nice ring to it."

My thoughts are exactly this: I made a Snape and Lupin icon with that exact phrase, but the picture quality sucked and you couldn't read anything. I believe I shall redo it. Mm hmm. *nods*

see, in my head it doesn't work with snape and lupin because lupin's not snarky enough and snape's too rude/mean/evil. interesting that you tried it already though.
