Last night, in order to celebrate St. Valentine's, I sat on the couch with my dog, ate popcorn, and watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I absolutely adore that movie, not only because it's pretty but also because of how real the characters are, and the all around awesomeness of everything. It's not necessarily a hopeful or happy romance, but it is a romance, and that's what I was looking for.

But today, oh oh today my fellow chocoholics, was the real holiday. How many of you took full advantage of Broken Chocolate Hearts Are Now Half-Price Day? Hmm? My haul was excellent, better than trick-or-treating, really.

You know, I once wrote a poem about the Day After Valentine's at Kroger. It got published in the Licking RIver Review, too. I suppose there's a lot of single chocolate fiends out there. ;)

Oh man, was this thing hard to find. It's very short, though, so it wasn't exactly hard to type up. ;) I kept meaning to expand it, but never got around to it.
Love is February 15 in the discount aisle at Kroger

fuzzy friends with no one to hug
roses still pretty if you ignore the brown bits
unraveling pink lace falling out of storage bins
bored child pushing hearts around the floor
shamrocks slowly stealing saint val's party
enough cheap chocolate to satisfy those

With nothing to do the day before.
Hmm. Rather a bummer, huh?
